Nigerian national E.C.C., who was arrested following a tip-off to the Crime Prevention Branch teams and a subsequent search of his home in the Küçük Kaymaklı area of Nicosia, where cannabis and cash believed to be drug proceeds were found, has been brought back before the court. An additional 7 days of detention were granted for investigative purposes.
During the hearing, the police presented the facts, stating that on October 1, 2025, at approximately 6:45 PM, officers from the Nicosia Police Department Crime Prevention Branch conducted a search of the apartment where the suspect was residing in Küçük Kaymaklı. Police stated that during the search, a substance believed to be approximately 30 grams of cannabis-type drug was found in the drawer of a desk in the suspect's bedroom.
The police officer also noted that 165 British Pounds, 40 Euros, 30 US Dollars, and 64,500 Turkish Lira, believed to be proceeds from drug sales, were found in the bedroom.
The police officer stated that the suspect was arrested after the incident and an investigation was launched against him. The police officer stated that the seized substances would be sent for analysis and the necessary correspondence would be made with the Department of Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacy, requesting that the suspect remain in custody for 7 days. The court approved the request.
