Elon Musk Makes History: Becomes World’s First ‘Half-Trillionaire’

Heavy rains in India have resulted in tragic loss of life. In Darjeeling, West Bengal, severe rainfall triggered floods and landslides, leading to the death of at least 18 people, with many others missing.

The disaster has disrupted transportation and communication networks, including internet connectivity, in the northern Sikkim region. Authorities are responding with emergency relief efforts to the affected area, noting that the Dudia Bridge was damaged in the flood. Due to the severe weather, tourist destinations and businesses in Darjeeling and Sikkim have been closed. Jalpaiguri, Siliguri, and Cooch Behar have also experienced flooding in various areas. Heavy rainfall is expected to continue until October 7th.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for continued heavy rainfall in the region, with a red alert declared for Sikkim. The forecast indicates that the rains will persist until October 7th, potentially causing further flooding in northern Bengal.

PRIME MINISTER MODI OFFERS CONDOLENCES

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences for those affected by the disasters in a statement on social media. He wished a speedy recovery for the injured and stated that the expected disasters in surrounding areas are being closely monitored and that they are on alert against potential threats.
