15 gold missing

An investigation continues into T.H. (F-37), a Turkmenistan national arrested in Nicosia's Ortaköy district for allegedly stealing various pieces of jewelry from a home she regularly cleaned. During the suspect's appearance in court for an extension of detention, it was revealed that the stolen items included one Republic gold coin, four Ata gold coins, three half Republic gold coins, and nine quarter Republic gold coins.

It was determined that the suspect sold two of the stolen Ata gold coins to a jeweler in Nicosia. Police, presenting the facts in court, stated that the suspect began working as a cleaner at H.E.'s residence in January 2025.

Police reported that in September, the jewelry stored in the bottom drawer of a four-drawer nightstand in the homeowner's bedroom was stolen. The stolen items were identified as one Republic gold coin, four Ata gold coins, three half Republic gold coins, and nine quarter Republic gold coins.

According to police, homeowner H.E. noticed the gold was missing on September 18, 2025. When questioned, the suspect admitted to the theft, promising to return the gold. However, after failing to do so, H.E. filed a complaint on October 1, 2025.

Police stated that the suspect was located and arrested in Nicosia on the same day, and a search was conducted at her residence. The police noted that the allegedly stolen gold was not found during the search, and the suspect was brought before the court, where a one-day extension was granted. The police officer explained that investigations revealed the suspect had sold two of the stolen Ata gold coins to a jeweler in Nicosia.

Police requested a seven-day extension, stating that the investigation is ongoing and there are items still being sought. The court approved the request.
